Applications open: The Service Pupils’ Support Programme

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust has rolled out a dedicated grant for projects which support Service children, and applications are now open!

Following the 2022 launch of the Families Strategy, the MoD has partnered with the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to administer the Armed Forces Families Fund (AF3) Fund. The Service Pupils’ Support Programme funding is intended to enable Military children to reach their full potential and is primarily focused on schools and local authorities across the UK.

According to the Trust, applications should be submitted by 8 May 2024 and must address the needs of children aged 4-18 in full-time statutory education, who are from currently serving Armed Forces families. This includes pupils whose parents are on full commitment as part of the full-time Reserve Service.

The programme will prioritise applications from clusters of three or more schools supporting Service children. Cluster applications can request up to £80,000, while single schools can register for up to £40,000. All projects must be delivered over a period of up to two years.

The programme is designed to help close the gap in attainment between Service and non-Service pupils; address the needs of children with additional needs through early identification and intervention; and support the needs of small cohorts of Service pupils within educational settings.

As a reminder, the application deadline is midday on Wednesday 8 May 2024 with decisions released before the end of June 2024.
