FCE’s work highlighted by General Teaching Council for Scotland

Forces Children's Education and the National Transitions Officer have been featured in the latest issue of Teaching Scotland magazine from the GTCS

The importance of supporting an Armed Forces child throughout their educational journey has been highlighted by the General Teaching Council for Scotland.

An article in its Teaching Scotland magazine, which reaches 70,000 teachers and college lecturers across the country, focuses on the dedicated support and learning resources available to educators, including the Teacher Toolkit created by Forces Children’s Education (FCE).

FCE’s Carolyn MacLeod, Scotland’s National Transitions Officer on behalf of ADES (the Association of Directors of Education in Scotland), was interviewed for the article and discusses the challenges faced by Armed Forces families.

She tells the GTCS: “This resource [the Teacher Toolkit] is both an opportunity to reinforce the knowledge that schools have but also for those who don’t have much understanding at all.”

Carolyn adds: “Through a partnership approach, we need to help schools to look at where each child is in their learning journey.”.”
