Month of the Military Child April 2024

It’s April’s Month of the Military Child and Forces Children’s Education wants to recognise and celebrate the role of children and young people from Service families.

Our website has a number of resources available, including posters, books, comics, educational content and much more.

During the month we will be sharing even more resources on our website and linking to partner organisations.

On Friday 26 April, show your support by wearing your favourite purple clothes for Purple Up Day.

Carolyn MacLeod MBE is the National Education Officer for the Association of Directors of Education in Scotland (ADES) and runs Forces Children’s Education. Carolyn said: “Children and young people from Armed Forces families are incredibly resilient but they can face significant challenges with relocations, missing families during deployment and training exercises, and having their education interrupted.

“Month of the Military Child (MotMC) highlights these issues and raises awareness of the impact on children and young people’s mental health, wellbeing and education.

“We have a number of invaluable resources to help families and education professionals meet our shared goal – of enabling Armed Forces children to reach their full potential.

“We are proud to support Forces families and are looking forward to celebrating our Military families.”
