Showcase your creativity for Month of the Military Child

It’s time to showcase your creativity for Month of the Military Child.
Highland Military Liaison Group (MLG) Education has launched a design competition open to all children and young people who attend early years or school in the Highlands.
What is Month of the Military Child?
Celebrated every April, Month of the Military Child is a time to honour children and young people from Armed Forces families for learning new ways, settling into new places and doing their best while their families serve, or when they did serve.
Design a logo competition
Highland MLG (Education) is running this competition to make Highland stand out by having its own unique and special logo for Month of the Military Child, created by a child or young person.
The competition is open to all children or young people who attend early years or school in the Highlands – you don’t have to be from an Armed Forces family.
There are five categories and a winner will be chosen from each category. There will also be an overall winner of the whole competition.
The task…
- Starting point: One entry per pupil. Designs must be submitted on a white A4 sheet of paper. Creations should be designed using pen or coloured pens, digital graphics. No collage/craft raised items.
- Hints: Avoid tiny details, use either black and white or strong colours as pale colours can lose vibrancy. Have clean lines and big shapes. Logos are bold and carry a memorable message.
- Review your design: Will it still be clear when reduced or enlarged? Does it copy well in colour and black and white? Does it fit within A4 dimensions? Is it clear, simple and stands out?
- Last checks: Ensure submission has name, year group, school or early learning/nursery, which age category being entered and your contact information in case you are a winner.
- Entry: Entries should be posted or handed in – see below. You may wish to keep a copy. Closing date for entries Monday 2 March 2026. Winners will be announced w/c 16 March 2026.

The overall winning logo will be used every year in April across Highland to mark, promote and help celebrate this important time.
