Calling all Veterans! Applications open for ID cards

A man holds up a sample of the new Veterans' ID Card.

Veterans can now apply for their HM Armed Forces Veteran Card after the application service was officially launched. Thousands of ex-Service personnel, who left the forces before December 2018, are eligible to apply.

As we reported last month, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Office for Veterans’ Affairs cards have two functions. Firstly to ensure Veterans can easily and quickly verify their status to access public and charitable sector support, if needed. Secondly, the cards will act as a way to provide a recognition of service in the Armed Forces.

The cards are free to apply for and you will need your service number, national insurance number, approximate dates for start and end of service, as well as a recent digital passport-style photograph.
