It’s time to suit up: let’s support Armed Forces children

Kids dressed in purple super hero costumes

Show your support for the children and young people of Armed Forces families by donning your favourite purple outfit.

April is Month of the Military Child (MotMC) and Friday 25 April is Purple Up! Day – the perfect excuse to become a style icon.

MotMC is held annually in recognition of the youngsters in our Armed Forces community who often face unique life challenges, such as relocations, the absence of parents during deployment or training, and adapting to changing circumstances.

Purple was chosen to be the awareness colour as it symbolises all branches of the Military.

You can read more about MotMC and discover what activities and events your family, school and community can get involved in.

On Purple Up! Day there are just three simple steps for showing your support:

  1. Wear purple
  2. Take a photo of yourself and your colleagues wearing purple in the office or at home.
  3. Post your photos on social media, using the hashtag #MotMC and a short message to Service children, thanking them for their important role in the Armed Forces community.
  4. Make sure you have the necessary permissions to take a photo of any person and location. You may also require additional permission to publish this image online (such as a website, social media, email, etc) or in print (newsletter, newspaper, magazine etc).
