Commemoration events to honour all those who have defended our country will take place across the country

The nation will come together on 13 November to honour the brave service and sacrifice of all who have defended our freedoms.

Commemoration events will take place across the country. Here are just a couple of those:

Legion Scotland Remembrance Service

Edinburgh City Chambers, 13 November at 11am

Join this year’s event at the Stone of Remembrance, City Chambers, Edinburgh. Wreaths will be laid by the Lord Provost, representatives from the Scottish Government, UK Government and the wider Armed Forces and Veterans community to remember our fallen at 11am.

All Veterans taking part in the parade are requested to assemble on Edinburgh Castle Esplanade at 10am. 

The parade will step off from Edinburgh Castle Esplanade at 10.32am. The Veterans Detachment will be led by the Royal Air Force Central Scotland Pipes and Drums, and Service detachments from The Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force will follow shortly behind them led by The Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

North Lanarkshire

Various times and locations throughout North Lanarkshire

Two local Remembrance Sunday events are scheduled to take place on Sunday, 13 November, at the War Memorial, Bank Street, Coatbridge at 10.45am and the Cenotaph, Duchess of Hamilton Park, Motherwell at 3pm.

The Royal British Legion, Scotland will be holding an event at the Cumbernauld Village Cenotaph at 10.45am.

Other locally organised ceremonies may also be taking place in other towns and villages across North Lanarkshire.

In addition, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial outside the Civic Centre on Armistice Day, Friday 11 November at 11am.
