Calling all budding writers! Share your work about your life in an Armed Forces family for the chance to win £100 worth of books.

The ‘My Forces Life’ writing competition is being run by the Reading Force charity, which uses books to bring Armed Forces families closer together.

Children and young people of all ages, and their parents and relatives, are invited to write up to 500 words and in any style they like – fiction and non-fiction, poetry, prose, diary entries or letters. Joint submissions are welcome, too, if parents or grandparents want to work with a younger relative.

There are 15 prizes split over five age categories, with the first prize being £100 worth of books or book tokens. Winning entries will be featured in a special Reading Force anthology and winners will each receive two copies.

The judging panel includes authors Vivian French and Amanda Prowse. The closing date for entries is Sunday, 27 March 2022. Winners will be notified by mid-April.
