Perth Event: Educators – Sharing Good Practice

Our third Educators – Sharing Good Practice event is heading to Perth.
The central belt education event will take place on Thursday, 19 March in the Sandeman Room at AK Bell Library 2-8 York Place, Perth PH2 8EP. The location is convenient for walking from the Perth train station and parking is available close to the venue.
This event has been planned in response to members of the ADES Network groups requests to meet in-person. There will be updates on outcomes from current research, a chance to share good practice and the opportunities provided by the new four-nations and overseas transitions resource, and the significance of revised Covenant obligations. The aim is to directly influence practice and establish clear priorities for future planning and development in support of Armed Forces children and young people throughout Scotland.
There is also a chance to add value to research on children from Armed Forces families with additional support needs (ASN) and the impact of mobility. This research is being undertaken by the Centre for Military Research Education and Public Engagement – Edinburgh Napier University, in partnership with ADES.
This Forces Children’s Education event is hosted by ADES (the Association for Directors of Education in Scotland), working in collaboration with Education Scotland, the Scottish Government (Scottish Armed Forces Education Support Group – SAFESG) and Edinburgh Napier University’s the Centre for Military Research, Education, and Public Engagement.
This Educators – Sharing Good Practice is the third of three events. The first held in Aberdeenshire in September 2024 and second in Edinburgh, November 2024. You can read more about the north event here.
A coherent package of outcomes, recommendations and information from both events will be circulated at the end of the year.

This event will take place from 10:00 to 15:00 on Tuesday, 19 March.
Aberdeen – a big thank you
We wish to give a big thank you to everyone who attended our North event in September 2024, including the team at Aberdeenshire Council for hosting. In particular, Laurence Findlay, Director of Education and Children’s Services, and Glenda Gray, HR Manager and Armed Forces Lead. Here are a few photographs from the event.
